Doing research into Islamic geometric patterns for a prospective commission, I did an ink drawing of this pattern, based on a complex geometric design found in the beautiful palace of the Alhambra in Grenada in the old Moorish part of Spain. The pattern had elements that I found detracted from the design, and so I modified it myself to remove the non-harmonious shapes, replacing them with a new set of irregular hexagons and more pentagrams. A lovely, peaceful and meditative piece.
Born in Norway in 1974, and discovering I knew how to paint in 1999, my work spans a wide variety of styles and media, all the way from traditional oils, pencil drawings and encaustics to digital paintings, 3D renderings and computer generated imagery, with styles ranging from the completely abstract to the sensually figurative.
