Description
One of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen was in the northern Norwegian town of Bodø during my Navy days. Just as the summer has the midnight sun, winter has the sun barely skirting the horizon - or the "midday sun" as I sometimes call it - occasionally filling the mid-afternoon with lovely colours such as this. At least when the clouds are just right.
Docking in Bodø harbour this Friday afternoon, I was just waiting for the announcement that shore leave was granted, so I could rush off to a nearby pier where I took several photos of the amazing view.
Though none of my photos came close to the powerful feeling of the entire sky looking like it was on fire, at least they caught a little glimpse of it, and reminds me of the scene and of the many happy memories from my days in the Navy.
As much as I liked my original photos, this is a digitally modified version, where the water has been changed to look calmer and reflect more of the cloudscape above.
