Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
Unmistakably van Gogh, this colourful and expressive painting was created in 1889 in Saint-Rémy in Provence during his stay at an asylum.
His style was so far ahead of his time one often hears the anecdote that he only sold one painting in his lifetime, leaving 900 works to become amongst the world's most famous and valuable paintings after his death. The world at large was still used to the classic aesthetic at the time which would have made Vincent's works appear like childish daubs to most people.
