Description

Doing research into Islamic geometric patterns for a prospective commission, I did an ink drawing of this pattern, based on a complex geometric design found in the beautiful palace of the Alhambra in Grenada in the old Moorish part of Spain. The pattern had elements that I found detracted from the design, and so I modified it myself to remove the non-harmonious shapes, replacing them with a new set of irregular hexagons and more pentagrams. A lovely, peaceful and meditative piece. I have made two versions of this, this one being almost all blue.
